from: Dr. Gin , Davis Chinese dentist answering questions: 1. HMO: It stands for Health Maintenance Organization. Usually it is not a good program. HMO pays doctors $3 for everything doctor needs to do (e.g $8000 procedure). Thus every few doctors will accept HMO arrangement. Thus you may not see a list of doctors Also HMO restricts patients to see only one doctor. Thus you do not have a choice. When a doctor accept HMO (for only $3), he is not going to do much, or willing to see the patient. Thus it is not a good program. With exception of Kaiser. Kaiser is big and controls its own program, has its own staff, doctors, and hospitals. Doctors in Kaiser do not need to worry about $8000 getting pay only $3. Whatever program you have, you may have to stay with it until pregancy is over. If you buy insurance after you are pregnant, it is like buying insurance after the house is burnt down. It is cheating, a fraud. 2. for OB/GYN, you can see Dr. Victor Chan 5301 F st Sac., 916-733-1720, Dr. Jacqueline Ho 916-782-2229 or any doctor in Cowell, or sutter., or UCD Group. 3.
